Chaos enthousiasmeert.

(English : scroll down)

Op hun onderarm plakken gele post-it briefjes.

“Wie is Soren Kierkegaard?”

My classroom is in chaos. Redress, there’s a complex order. The sound of giggles and chuckles escapes several face masks. The wind makes the blinds flap but none of my students is aware of that. They’re too busy walking around. As far as possible they keep the requiered distance. Yellow post-it notes are stuck on their forearms. Every now and then a post-it drifts to the ground, but they are too valuable to pass up.

“Yes, it is mine! Now I already have 8! ” Enthousiasm. “Not, your answer wasn’t entirely correct, give it back, read the book!” two heads dive into the handbook to check who was right. “Oh yes, ok.” And the little yellow piece of paper changes hands again.

On the other side of the class, one of the ladies boldly walks over to one of the boys. Entirely in accordance with the unconsciously applicable regulations, the genders do not mix at the outset. Only when there is no other way they venture to the opposite sex with lead in their shoes. Okay, I’m exaggerating. A bit. Just a bit.

“Ma’am, look I’m the bomb! I know all the answers. ” 1 of my students thinks she has outdone herself. I ignore for a moment that she has stuck the cards all to the inside of her jacket and walks through class as the local flasher. She’s working on the assignment. Fanaticly. I decide to add some fuel to the fire and announce “Just 3 more minutes and we’ll see who has collected the most tickets. The boys or the girls. ” Immediately, something buzzes. No, the fanaticism sprays as if a peppermint was dropped into a coke bottle. Two seperate teams are formed with each member helping the reigning monkey on the rock to gather more and more notes.

“What was your question?” “Who is Soren Kierkegaard?” “Oh,” says another, that’s on page 65. ” And two pairs of eyes read at speed what could be learned about this philosopher.

They each came up with the questions themselves and wrote them on 3 post-its. Taking away was only allowed if they knew the answer to someone else’s question. The book was allowed to use. In fact, it was encouraged. Yet there is triumph in many eyes when the correct answer is found without a check up.

The girls won. But the boys were no less fanatic. So actually I won, but I’m not gonna tell them. .
